What was the religion before that? Is it true that the great Persian rugs are made in Tehran? Was Iraq, Iran and Kuwait all one nation called "Persia"? Tell us something about the history...

I know it sounds silly, but as an American and conservative, I have always been very interesed in the big Persian nation and would like to know more. I guess I remember the hostage thing in 1979 (I was little tiny kid), and I remember that was the first I had heard of Iran.
